Family Update
Little Lindy is almost three months old! As we are coming out of the “4th trimester” it has been great to see more of Lindy’s personality! We thought Sam was an easy baby but Lindy has been even easier. She is sleeping well (for an infant), she is breastfeeding well, she doesn’t love the car (she prefers to have someone hold her all the time) but overall she's been very chill. Sam often shows concern for her by saying that she is “hungry” and needs “milk”-- 90% of the time he is right! He hasn’t shown signs of jealousy and has really transitioned well with it all. Mamma Meg has had an easier recovery than last time and is often buzzing around with Lindy in a carrier.
Ministry Update
It’s a good thing that Lindy has been so wonderful because in the last couple of months, Young Life work has really ramped up! As some of you know, I joined the “Sound Cities” Young LIfe which oversees Mukilteo (where I was hired to build up) and Edmonds. In January the Edmonds community director went on Sabbatical and decided to leave staff, soI’ve been overseeing both communities! Thankfully, this week I hired a part-time admin to help me with the combined 150+ campers going to camp in our area and we will hopefully rehire for the Edmonds community in the coming month.
Other than that, I’ve been able to make major strides in the Mukilteo community. I recently started getting into the schools as an emergency substitute teacher. That’s right, “Dr.” Chase is back! This has proven to be a great way to help out the schools and get to know kids better, although I wasn’t much help when I subbed for A.P. Chemistry- it felt like the kids and material were speaking another language!
There’s been a group of ladies that have a heart for Young Life, teenagers, and prayer! Nearly every Monday we’ve been able to pray for Kamiak High School. It’s been great to be a part of it!
Don’t forget about Campaigners! There has been a core group of Kamiak High School guys that has met throughout the year on Fridays before school for bible study and doughnuts! We usually get around 3-5 guys and have had great discussions on the books of James and Philippians.
At the middle school, I’ve been invited to help “supervise” the students before school on Fridays! “Supervise” means playing some early morning hoops and soccer to work off my donut from Campaigners. It’s been fun and has allowed me to get on campus and know kids by name. They even called and asked me specifically to come in because something traumatic happened the day before and they needed my energy–pretty cool to be “on speed dial” for a public school!
It's been a busy Spring! Other honorable mentions include helping out with after school, wiffle ball, reading Scripture at Bachelorette and putting on a community Bunco Night!
Camp Update:
We have 7 kids signed up for camp this year! However, due to a variety of circumstances several have asked for full scholarship.
Two are graduating seniors who have never been to Young Life camp but are eager to return next year as leaders for Wyldlife!
One student comes from a challenging home environment, he’s been attending club and is excited about camp.
Another student comes from a non-Christian background and came to faith last year. He’s been faithfully attending Bible study and would love to attend camp even though his family doesn’t see its significance.
Would you consider giving to our camp scholarship to make camp happen for these kids?
What’s Ahead:
I get to take a three-week break before camp season starts as part of my paternity plan. Meg and I are taking our kids to Munich where we will get to reconnect with friends that we left one year ago. Call us crazy taking a three month old and a two year old to Europe but we felt like in order to keep in touch with the friends that we met abroad, not letting too much time pass before we go back would be wise. Can’t wait to share how it goes!
Save the date! If you want to come to our Mukilteo fundraiser this Fall and get to see more what God is doing through Young Life our event is on Sunday, October 12th at Tapped Public House Mukilteo from 5-7pm
Keep up the good works!
What a crazy busy season! Love to hear all of the updates. Keep up the good work.
Love from Texas!
